Beloit police got quite a surprise Tuesday morning. Sergeant Ryan Flanagan says the police station suddenly went dark. Flanagan says it turned out to be a bird strike causing a transformer to blow. Ironically the station’s emergency generator had just been tested Monday, and kicked in immediately. Smoke however did trigger the smoke detectors, which prompted a response from the fire department.
