Town of Beloit Police Sergeant disciplined

A Town of Beloit police sergeant takes a voluntary demotion.  Former Sergeant Richard Felger is known to the community.  He’s been a member of the Town of Beloit Police Department since 2003, and was involved in a fatal shootout with a suspect at Rex Lanes in November of 2011, where he was wounded in the leg.  The district attorney ruled Felger’s actions that night protected the lives of those at the bowling alley.  Town of Beloit Police Chief Ron Northrup says Felger recently displayed integrity when confronted about the misuse of supervisory time in the excessive viewing of personal searches on a work computer.  Northrop says Felger continued the behavior after being ordered to stop.  Northrup says Felger voluntarily demoted himself to the rank of patrol officer, and will now undergo retraining and a twelve month probationary period.
