Janesville shooting leaves one man dead

(Gazette photo)  Janesville police are investigating the city’s first murder in three years. Police Chief David Moore says the shooting happened at 116 South Franklin Street a little after 12:00 a.m. Sunday.  Moore says a 29-year-old Illinois man was found shot in the face and neck, and was pronounced dead a short time after arriving at the hospital. The suspect is described as black, six-foot-five, in his 30’s or 40’s, and wearing a white tank top and gray cargo jeans. Police say the suspect has been seen in the neighborhood before, and someone knows his identity. The chief urges anyone with information to come forward by calling 608-757-2244 or Janesville Area Crime Stroppers at 608-756-3636.
