Bail is set a a half million dollars for the 32-year-old Beloit man accused of shooting an Illinois man to death early Sunday morning in Janesville.
Prosecutor Gwanny Tjoa argued Tuesday afternoon that Barquis McKnight – also known as Barquis Odom – has a lengthy criminal record and a history of missed court appearances.
McKnight is charged with first degree intentional homicide and possession of a firearm by a felon.
According to the criminal complaint, McKnight and the victim, Eddie Jones could be heard arguing outside a residence on the 100 block of South Franklin Street prior to the shooting.
McKnight is due back in court for his preliminary hearing on June 9th.
