State Historic Preservation Officer Jim Draeger says the Beloit Power Plant has been placed on the State Registery. Draeger says Beloit College plans to incorporate the historical value of the power plant within its renovations. The plant is considered significant for its design. The renovation begins about six years after planning, preliminary design work, and fundraising for the $38-million project began. College officials say the powerhouse project will be a model of adaptive reuse and eco-friendly design.
