State of Wisconsin Office of Commissioner of Railroads holds public hearing on Janesville railroad crossing

A complaint from the City of Janesville about the condition of a particular railroad crossing is prompting the State Office of the Commissioner of Railroads to hold a public hearing.
While the Union Pacific Railroad just completed temporary repairs at the East Memorial Drive crossing between North Parker Drive and Harding Street last week, a planned hearing is still scheduled for 10:30 Thursday morning at the Public Service Commission in Madison.
Residents will have a chance to provide comments by phone from Janesville City Hall during the hearing. Members of the public can also provide comment by mail or online on the Office of Commissioner of Railroads website.
The purpose of the public hearing is to determine whether Union Pacific has failed to maintain the crossing in good condition and repair for highway travel as required under state statute.
