DNR hosts public hearing on Lake Koshkonong water level order

The public is being asked to weigh in on a proposal to raise Lake Koshkonong by 2.6 between June and September.
The Department of Natural Resources’ proposal is the result of a petition and eventual lawsuit from the Rock Koshkonong Lake District more than a decade ago.
The Lake District had asked the DNR to raise water levels by more than seven inches but in 2013 the Supreme Court ruled the agency must first consider the economic impact of the Lake’s summer water levels.
The DNR will be accepting comments from the public on their latest draft order during an informational meeting Thursday, June 22nd from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Edgerton High School.
As part of the plan available for review on the DNR’s website, the water level between September and June would be raised 14.8.
