At least one local legislator says it’s time to consider toll roads as a way to fund repairs for Wisconsin’s crumbling streets and highways. Representative Don Vruwink of Milton says the idea came out of a recent forum. Vruwink says people are telling him they’re willing to pay if the money is used towards transportation. The Democrat says the funding plan, being debated in the current budget process, is not sustainable. He adds a 2011 Wisconsin Policy Research Institute study estimates tollways could raise close to a billion dollars a year.
