Most of the Milton School Board appears to agree, cutting the dollar amount for a possible referendum is the way to go. An architectural and building firm chosen by the district presented slimmed down options to the board Monday night which would trim $17-million from the $87-million referendum which failed in last November’s election. Cuts to the plan include using a pre-engineered metal building to house the high school gym and classrooms for technical education and agriculture. Reducing the size of a new high school, including building a three-station gym instead of four. And limiting work at East Elementary to adding two new classrooms to eliminate the need for basement classroom space. The board is scheduled to discuss the new plan again next Monday and district officials are asking input from the public. Additional time is planned to entertain those comments.
