Young people in Beloit get a chance to see first-hand what a career at the fire department both looks and feels like.
Business and Education Director Tina Salzman says Hendricks CareerTEK is hosting a Fire Ops Academy Thursday in conjunction with the local fire departments and Beloit Health System.
Participants in the fire ops academy will experience wearing protective gear, explore fire trucks, and learn about basic life-saving measures provided by first responders.
Salzman says young people ages 15 to 21 can register for the free day-long event by contacting Hendricks CareerTEK.
