Janesville police say the man suspected in a Saturday morning robbery is in custody. Police say they picked up 28-year-old Shane J. Fisher of Montello about 5:30 Saturday night on the city’s south side. Fisher is accused in a theft at the Family Dollar on Center Avenue. He was arrested on suspicion of theft, possession of cocaine, and a probation violation. Officers responded to the robbery at 9:00 in the morning and a car chase south on river Road followed, but was discontinued for public safety reason. The car later was found abandoned in a patch of woods on South River Road. Police say Fisher is also wanted by authorities in Columbia County for a Thursday robbery.
