The site of a morning house fire in Beloit is being treated as a crime scene. Not only do authorities say the fire appears to be intentionally set, but a 41-year-old man was found dead with an apparent self inflicted gun shot wound to the head. Firefighters were called to 2540 Shopiere Road just after 5:30 Thursday morning. A passerby had noticed smoke. The fire appears to have started in the basement, but the victim was found on the first floor. Beloit police say the house was found secured, and no other persons or pets were found. Police add the rock County Sheriff’s Office was to serve an eviction notice at the property this morning.
