(Gazette photo) Careless use of smoking materials can’t be ruled out in a fire north of Janesville. Firefighters say they responded to a two unit condo in the 4400 block of Old Kennedy Road about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. The first crews to arrive found the fire on an exterior wall had worked its way into the attic. Officials say one of the residents attempted to put it out. He and his four dogs were not injured. Damage is estimated at $90-thousand.
