$583,000 allocation for the City of Janesville survives the Governor’s veto pen

Hard work pays off for Janesville City officials who have been lobbying hard for more state funding for years.
City Manager Mark Freitag says a $583,000 allocation for the City of Janesville each of the next five years made it into the state budget the Governor signed Thursday.
Freitag says he’d like to see the extra money spent on public safety, although the final decision falls on the City Council.
Freitag warns it’s only a temporary fix. He says the legislature needs to re-examine the state-shared revenue formula which has Janesville receiving $81 per resident compared to the peer average of $179 per resident.
