Janesville Performing Arts Center presents “Tales from the Old Marshall”

The Janesville Performing Arts Center announces that it is partnering with the Rock County Historical Society and JATV to collect and perform stories based around true memories that took place at the old Janesville High School/Marshall Middle School. The Rock County Historical Society’s “story squad” have collected stories that will be arranged into a play by Teresa Nguyen and Michelle Dennis. The show will contain original music inspired by the stories collected and will also highlight videos/photos from JATV.
The “Old Marshall” building is one of the most historic buildings in Rock County. Built between 1921-1922, it was the state’s first million-dollar high school. Many patrons of the Janesville Performing Arts Center attended school at this facility and it is the inspiration of many incredible memories from members of the Rock County community. This show gives the center a unique opportunity to compile those memories into an original theatre piece. “The partnership between RCHS and JATV allows JPAC to produce a show that showcases our unique history in an entertaining way. These partnerships help the center further its vision of fostering a creative community.”, states JPAC’s executive Director, Nathan Burkart.
“Tales from the Old Marshall” is part of JPAC’s family series which is made possible by support from the “Hendricks Family Foundation”.
Tickets for the show can be purchased on JPAC’s website www.janesvillepac.org or by calling the ticket office at 608-758-0297. The show will take place on September 29th at 7:30pm. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.
The Janesville Performing Arts Center serves the greater Rock County area through performances and events produced by 15 local non-profit arts groups. The center’s 633 seat theater, lobby, art gallery, box office, and administrative office are located in the historic Janesville High School/Marshall Junior High School building in downtown Janesville.
