The story of a puppy thrown off of a Janesville bridge into the Rock River turns out to be a con.
Janesville Police say after the story of the puppy posted by the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin was shared thousands of times on social media officers investigated the claim.
The fisherman who reported seeing the young dog thrown into the river admitted that they fabricated the story in order to avoid paying a surrender fee to the Humane Society.
Janesville Police say since they never made a police report no criminal charges will be filed.
