Janesville police highlight number of Opioid overdoses

Janesville police are promoting awareness of what officials describe as a Opioid overdose epidemic.  Police issued a news release Tuesday highlighting the number of overdose cases.  The report indicates the department has responded to 41-overdoses so far this year, resulting in nine confirmed deaths.  Investigators believe two additional deaths over the weekend will bring that number to eleven, which is precariously close to 2016’s record of 12-overdose deaths for the entire year.  Police add they believe most overdoses, that don’t result in death, are never reported and suspect last year’s number of cases is likely three times higher.
