Janesville Salvation Army Major Ruth Fay says this year’s Christmas fundraising goal is a little higher than last year’s lower than expected collections. Fay says getting off to a good start could depend on the number of Bell Ringers who volunteer early in the season. She says everyone likes to volunteer the week of Christmas, but this year Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday, and there’s not bell ringing on Sunday. Fay says volunteers will begin ringing bells at 32 locations in northern Rock County Friday.
