Effective December 4, 2017, Max Gagin has been promoted to Finance Director for the City of Janesville.
Max first began working for the City of Janesville in 2009 as a Management Intern in the City Manager’s Office. Upon culmination of his two-year graduate internship, Max spent two and a half years working as a Budget and Management Analyst for Broward County, Florida. In 2013, Max rejoined the City team as a Management Analyst in the City Manager’s Office. In 2014, Max was promoted to Assistant to the City Manager, and has served as Acting Finance Director since July 2017. Max holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Political Science and History from Iowa State University as well as a Master of Public Administration Degree from Northern Illinois University.
Deputy City Manager Ryan McCue states, “Max is a bright, talented, proven individual with a great depth of financial expertise. He has made high quality contributions during his time in the City Manager’s Office and I am confident he will lead the Finance Office well.”
As a result of Gagin’s promotion, Maggie Darr, who’s been serving as Acting Assistant to the City Manager has been promoted to Assistant to the City Manager.
City Manager Mark Freitag plans to hired a new Management Information Specialist to replace Darr.
