Janesville City Council votes down stop sign proposal

The Janesville City Council takes the advice of City staff and not the Transportation Committee in voting down an ordinance which would have ordered a stop sign placed on South Fremont Street at Eastwood Avenue.
A group of residents submitted a petition to the City asking for the traffic control device.
While the Transportation Committee sided with the neighbors and voted for a stop sign despite the fact that the intersection gets half the number of cars required to warrant one, the City Council Monday night failed to pass a motion to approve the stop sign in a four to three vote. Those voting in favor of the stop sign were Jens Jorgensen, Paul Williams, and Jim Farrell.
