Janesville City Council tables animal reclamation fee ordinance indefinitely

The City of Janesville will have to find another route if it intends to recoup some of the money it spends on animal control.
City Clerk Dave Godek presented a proposed $20 reclamation fee to the City Council for the second time Monday night.
The fee would have been billed to residents from the City after they pick up a lost pet from the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin.
A motion to table the ordinance indefinitely passed on a four to three vote. Those voting in favor of the fee were Council members Jim Farrell, Doug Marklein, and Sue Conley.
