Legislator promotes gun store security after Janesville area burglaries

A state representative from Madison is calling for a hearing on her bill to increase gun store security after this week’s rash of burglaries in the Janesville area.  Democrat Lisa Subeck says stores should be required to use safes, secured metal cabinets, or hardened cables through the trigger locks to secure weapons during non-business hours.  Subeck says she first made the proposal some time ago after a series of area break-ins including one by now convicted burglar Joseph Jakubowski at Armaggedon Supply in Janesville.  Federal rules currently only require gun shops owners to lock their store entrance after hours.
