A little community support can go a long way for a police department. Janesville Police Chief David Moore says Forward Janesville’s decision, to honor the department with its’ Community Improvement Award, is appreciated. Moore says the negative national dialogue on policing can effect officers, but the department in Janesville enjoys broad community support. Moore also believes quality community policing supports economic growth, as evidenced by the city’s rebound after the loss of General Motors. He says both businesses and people are more likely to settle in a safe place.
