A local high school’s jazz band is making a habit of winning. Beloit Memorial High School Band Director Chris Behrens says the Jazz Orchestra has been selected to attend the Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition and Festival in New York for the seventh time since 2009. Beloit is one of 15 orchestras chosen from more than 100 across North America for the event at the Lincoln Center May 10-12. Several fund raising performances are planned.
