All the recent rain and run-off is prompting the Rock County Sheriff’s Office to make sand-bags available. Commander Troy Knudson says several local creeks, streams, and the Rock River are approaching flood stage. He says residents in need can find sand and sandbags at the Rock Town Hall on County D in Afton and the Newville Park and Ride. Sandbags alone are also available through the city of Janesville at 900 North Parker Drive and the City of Beloit at 2351 Springbrook Court. The sheriff’s office also advised motorists to be extremely careful and avoid driving through standing water.
