During the next two weeks, construction crews will set girders for the new I-39/90 southbound bridge over the Rock River near Edgerton and Newville. To avoid daytime traffic delays, the bridge operations will take place during nighttime hours and will have the following traffic impacts.
I-39/90 southbound: Periodic slowdowns are expected on the Interstate’s southbound lanes near the Rock River bridge between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. on the following nights:
- Monday night (Feb. 26)
- Tuesday night (Feb. 27)
- Monday night, March 5
- Tuesday night, March 6
Traffic delays are anticipated during the overnight hours. Motorists may wish to use an alternate route through this area.
From February 28 – March 2 and again from March 7-9, the southbound Interstate will be reduced to one lane nightly for crews to continue their work.
The WIS 59 ramp to I-39/90 southbound is anticipated to be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. weeknights from February 26 to March 9. Motorists are required to use alternate local routes. The ramp will be open during daytime hours and weekends.
Additional road closures associated with this work include the following:
- Ellendale Road: The local roadway under I-39/90, along the south side of the Rock River, will be closed from 6 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 28) to 6 a.m. Saturday, March 3.
- Richardson Springs Road: The roadway on the north side of the river will be closed nightly (8 p.m. to 5 a.m.) on Wednesday, March 7 and Thursday, March 8. Occasional access will be provided to Richardson Springs Road residents during the bridge activities.
Please note the northbound Interstate lanes will remain open. All work operations and closures are weather dependent and subject to change.
Motorists are urged to plan ahead, use alternate routes and allow extra time to safely reach their destination. Travel information on Wisconsin highways can be found at www.511wi.gov.
