Fifteen students in the Blackhawk Technical College apprenticeship program have just gotten a boost. The Great Lake Higher Education Corporation have awarded each of the students a $1500 scholarship. BTC President Tracy Pierner says he’s pleased to see so many students receiving the scholarship which will help them afford the education needed to compete for high paying jobs. Most Apprenticeships combine up to five years of classroom instruction and on-the-job-training. Wisconsin Technical College officials say since the scholarship program began in 2013, 94% of recipients have either completed or continued their apprenticeships.
