A 60-year-old Janesville man will have to give up his guns. A criminal complaint filed in Rock County Court suggests Michael Howard owned as many as 40 guns, but that was before he was convicted on charges related to the repeated threats to kill a police officer and his family. As a felon, Howard is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms. His conviction stems from an incident on March 13th of last year, when police were investigating gunfire near his home in the 2300 block of Garden Drive, before they say he become aggressive with the arresting officers. Judge Michael Haakenson agreed to a plea deal and sentenced Howard, who has no previous criminal record, to three-years probation.
