Violent crime may be down in Beloit. In releasing the 2017 crime statistics Wednesday morning, Police Chief David Zibolski attributed a key aspect of that trend to increasing community support. Zibolski says the number of violent crimes were down 14% last year compared to the year before, and the number of shots-fired incidents dropped dramatically. When property crimes are factored in, which includes a possible 42%increase in burglaries, the chief reports the overall crime rate in Beloit dipped almost 3% last year.
