Town of Beloit and Town of Turtle Fire Departments merge

The Town of Beloit and Town of Turtle Boards have both voted unanimously to conduct an “operational merger” of their Fire Services.
This agreement would allow both departments to operate autonomously and keep their own identity and budgets, but allows for all equipment, facilities and staff to be shared as-if this were one department. Both of these departments currently share services and respond to each other’s calls frequently. This merger is set to formalize the sharing of services that currently exists and set the stage to expand upon them for the improvement of fire service for the region.
Under this agreement, the Town of Beloit and Town of Turtle Fire Departments are able to staff each other’s equipment, facilities, etc. and would enable both departments to be simultaneously dispatched for all fire and emergency medical calls and respond throughout both community’s service areas, which include the Town of Turtle, Town of Beloit, Town of La Prairie and portions of the Town of Rock.
This agreement is also meant to consolidate efforts which include, but are not limited to, joint staffing, a shared station, equipment sharing, community risk analysis, standard operating guidelines, training, administration and fire prevention and education. The Town of Beloit is very excited to be working closely with the Town of Turtle as we have a very good relationship built on mutual respect and both communities strive to provide the best possible services to their residents in the most efficient and effective ways possible.
