A 29-year veteran of local law enforcement announces his plans to run for sheriff. Commander Troy Knutson started with the Rock County Sheriff’s Office as a Correctional Officer. Knutson has held positions including corrections, SWAT, and incident management team member. The Commander has a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice and has also served six years on the Parkview School Board. Although he offers high praise for sheriff’s office personnel, he says more advances are possible in crime prevention training, crisis preparation, and local law enforcement coordination. Knudson is the second member of the sheriff’s office to announce his candidacy. Sheriff’s Captain Gary Groelle declared last December.
