Pending sale of Bon-Ton stores could be good news for Janesville Boston Store

Possibly some good news for shoppers of the Boston Store in the Janesville Mall.
Bon-Ton Stores announced a possible sale to investors who want to buy the struggling retail company out of a bankruptcy auction.
In a news release late Monday, the company says it has received a “signed letter of intent” from an investor group composed of DW Partners, Namdar Realty Group and Washington Prime Group.
The state released a mass layoff and business closing warning Friday, saying that Bon-Ton intended to close a number of Wisconsin stores, including the Boston Store at the Janesville Mall. The notice warned the Janesville store’s 74 employees that layoffs will begin in June.
The company said Monday it’s hopeful that if the court approves the sale to investors, Bon-Ton could “preserve jobs.”
The state earlier this year warned that the Elder-Beerman store in Beloit would close.
