Boy suspected of damaging war memorial in Janesville

Janesville police have referred a 9-year-old boy to juvenile authorities on a charge of criminal damage to property.   The charge is in connection to damage to the Vietnam Veteran’s War Memorial in Traxler Park.  The damage was reported Monday, April 9. Part of a rifle was broken off a monument and left at the site, according to a news release from the police department.  The Janesville Patriotic Society estimated the damage at $6,500.
