Rock County appears to be benefiting from a growing tourism economy. Janesville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Christine Rebout says a study released by the Wisconsin Department of Tourism shows visitor spending up more than 4% last year compared to 2016. Rebout says the Tourism Economics report also shows total business sales linked to tourism spending in the county was almost $400 million, up 3.7%, and Rock County tourism generated $29.4 million in taxes and other fees for state and local government, which is an increase of 3.62% over 2016. Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett calls it a tremendous credit to the tourism industry in all 72 counties and the work they do to create attractive fun vacation experiences.
