Boaters may need to slow down a bit on one section of the Rock River. The Rock County Sheriff’s Office has invoked the county’s slow, no-wake ordinance for the Rock River between the Indianford Dam and the Beloit-Rock Townline Road Bridge. The river gauge at Afton showed 7.32 feet Monday, and the ordinance requires boat-speed restrictions when the level exceeds 6.5 feet. The National Weather Service predicts the Afton gauge will continue to rise to 7.7 feet on Wednesday, and will continue at that level at least through Sunday.
