Janesville man charged with shooting a sling shot at vehicles on the Interstate from his moving semi truck

A convicted child sex offender from Janesville is accused of shooting ball bearings at minivans with a slingshot while driving down I-74 in Illinois in his semi truck.
Illinois Police received numerous reports of cars being struck by ball bearings on both eastbound and westbound I-74 beginning on March 30th. In one incident a child was injured by the shattered glass from the vehicle’s window.
After noticing a pattern in the attacks investigators used camera images collected by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois State Police and local businesses along the I-74 corridor to develop 53-year-old Kevin L. Casey as a suspect.
Casey is a convicted sex offender who served 15 years behind bars for sexual assault of a child.
After canvassing the area of the attacks, police stopped Casey and Friday evening and they say he admitted to the crime, and claimed he targeting minivans because they were an easier target.
Casey faces charges of aggravated battery to a child, aggravated battery on a public way and criminal damage to property.
He’s due to make his first court appearance in Illinois Monday.
