Rock County Sheriff’s Office announces new hires

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is back up to full staff with the addition of ten new deputies and correctional officers. Chief Deputy Barb Barrington-Tillman admits hiring has become more of a challenge.  She says years ago two-hundred applications would roll in, now they’re lucky to get sixty.  Part of the reason for fewer applicants is higher education requirements. All new deputies are expected to have a bachelor’s degree.  Another reason is a tight job market.  Barringtohn-Tillman says she’s pleased at their ability in attracting a pool of candidates with various ethic backgrounds and veterans.
