Beloit police have the uncomfortable duty of arresting one of their own, but Chief David Zibolski appears pleased with the progress of the investigation into allegations of sexual assault of a child against 62-year-old retired officer Larry Woods. Zibolski describes the actions of officers in terms of ethical and expeditious. He says he understands the public’s concerns and that’s part of the reason for a news conference Tuesday to shed light on the case. Zibolski says the accusations of Woods involving an association with a 14-year-old girl are more than just allegations. He encourages any other possible victims to come forward. He adds, the allegations against Woods are abhorrent and tarnish the badge that so many men and women are proud to wear. Woods is currently being held in the Dane County Jail, but will be prosecuted in Rock County Court.
