This may be a good time to be in the skilled trades, judging from the need for electricians in the Janesville area. International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 890 Organizer Jason Heidenreich says a shortage developed after the “Great Recession”. Heidenreich says the slowdown starting around 2008 meant fewer apprentices were needed. IBEW Local 890 appears to be aggressively recruiting electricians with a job fair planned for Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:30 at the Pontiac Convention Center in Janesville.
