(Gazette photo) The experiment of back-in angled parking for a short stretch of West Milwaukee Street in downtown Janesville is over. City Manager Mark Freitag told the city council Monday night, the community just isn’t ready to take it on. Responses to an on-line survey were mostly negative, and business owners shared fears about losing foot traffic. The city launched back-in parking for just one-block between Jackson and Franklin streets on May 23rd. Janesville originally touted back-in parking spots as safer than the more traditional spaces. City crews will revert the spaces back to front-in parking next week.
