(Gazette photo) The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office releases more information about an ammonia leak at Bird Eye Foods hat sent more than a dozen people to the hospital.
It took hazardous materials technicians nearly 24 hours from the time of the leak just after 5:00 Sunday morning to determine that the building in Darien had been properly ventilated.
The building was turned back over to Birds Eye around 2:30 (Monday) morning with the recommendation they continue to ventilate the building.
Currently the condition of 15 employees who were taken to five different area hospitals is unknown.
