Whitewater plans improvements for local lakes

Whitewater officials are working on a plan to get rid of some of the weeds in Cravath and Trippe Lakes.  Early planning suggests a gradual drawdown would freeze out and control invasive aquatic plants.  If the city goes forward with a drawdown, it would open the dams and bring the water level down to a stream level.  A gradual drawdown would give most fish and other wildlife time to located to deeper water.  Benefits include decreasing plant density and improving lake depth.  The plan could begin as early as the fall of next year.
