Town of Beloit Police say they arrested a Beloit man Saturday following a domestic violence incident where he armed himself with a handgun.
Officers responded to a just after 9:00 p.m. from a woman who said she had been in a physical altercation with 39-year-old Maurice Citchen. The victim claimed Citchen had armed himself with a 9 mm handgun and would not let the woman leave the residence with her son.
The woman and her son eventually left the residence while Citchen was still armed. Officers engaged in an hour-long standoff once they arrived at the residence.
Eventually Citchen was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery, domestic disorderly conduct, domestic false imprisonment, being a felon in a possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm and failure to comply with an officer’s attempt to be taken into custody.
