The State Department of Workforce Development reports July’s unemployment rate for Rock County sits at 3.3%, down .4% from June. Unemployment is also down .3% from a year ago in July. Rates are lower in both Janesville and Beloit. Beloit’s rate currently sits at 4.4% and Janesville a mere 3.1%. Preliminary July unemployment rates show a decline in all 12 of Wisconsin’s metropolitan statistical areas. The DWD report also indicates 2017 ended with the lowest level of initial Unemployment Insurance claims in 30-years.
