Check out downtown Beloit in a way you never have before. The City of Beloit announces the inaugural Open Streets, Open Doors event in downtown Beloit. Select streets will be closed to traffic during this free event, which will feature fun, behind-the-scenes look at businesses and organizations in the downtown area.
Open Streets, Open Doors will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25 in Beloit. Attendees will get to see downtown Beloit from a new perspective, and experience some of our exciting new shops, restaurants, vendors, and public spaces.
“The goal of this family-friendly event is to build community, to showcase downtown Beloit, and to encourage non-motorized transportation and healthy living,” said Drew Pennington, director of planning and building services for the City of Beloit.
Open Streets, Open Doors is brought to you by the City of Beloit, Downtown Beloit Association, Visit Beloit, the Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce, and the Stateline Spinners. The event was started by city employees who are looking at ways to increase sustainability in the community. Event attendees are encouraged to walk, bike, and use other non-motorized forms of transportation to explore Beloit during this event.
Attendees will be able to use three different bridges to complete various loops around the downtown area. Parking will be available in all municipal parking lots. Public restrooms are available in the Mill Street parking lot behind Bushel & Peck’s.
