City of Janesville considers financing public infrastructure for private housing developments again

City of Janesville officials work to find ways to fill a housing shortage.
Deputy City Manager says the City Council is set to consider the merits of one proposal that came out of a housing and development forum earlier this summer.  Feedback indicated that the City should consider returning to financing public infrastructure for developers.
McCue says the City used to pay for infrastructure for new housing developments however they stopped doing it after losing more than $2 million in special assessments and interest for developers that went bankrupt.
The City Council will discuss the issue when they meet on Monday night.
