Janesville Fire Department receives grant to purchase new dive communication system

The Janesville Fire Department is pleased to announce it was recently awarded a nearly $5,700 grant from Firehouse Subs to purchase a new dive communications system.  Firehouse Subs, a national sandwich shop chain known for their philanthropy and giving back to public safety organizations, opened a location on the north side of Janesville in 2016.
Firehouse Subs will be holding a grant procurement ceremony at Firehouse Subs, 2050 Morse Street, on Wednesday, September 26 at 10 a.m. for the Janesville Fire Department.
The ceremony is being held to celebrate the grant and the JFD’s new dive communications system which will be used by the department’s SCUBA team.  The system includes a radio headset used by personnel on the surface which has the ability to communicate with up to three divers under the water.  This system allows the department to perform a more efficient and effective search and makes the operations much safer as divers will be able to communication information and needs to personnel at the surface in an emergency.
