Illinois man facing charges for drunken rollover crash in Rock County

A 35-year-old Freeport, Illinois man is facing a number of charged following a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning which injured at least one of his passengers.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were dispatched to the crash located in a cornfield located near the intersection of County Highway S and County Highway BT just after 4:00 Sunday morning.

Investigation determined that an SUV driven by Cori Reed was headed east on BT when it failed to stop at the intersection with County S, entered the ditch, rolled several times, and came to rest in a cornfield.

Reed and his front seat passenger were wearing their seatbelts.

A back seat passenger was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained substantial injuries.

Reed was placed under arrest on suspicion of causing injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, causing great bodily harm by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, and first offense operating while intoxicated.
