A 36-year-old Beloit man will spend 10 years in federal prison for distributing heroin.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Juan Carlos Perez pleaded guilty to the charge back in May and was sentenced Tuesday by Chief U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson.

Perez is accused of selling heroin to a confidential informant in 2016. Agent seized more than $150,000 in cash from his girlfriend’s house.

U.S. Attorney Blader praised the efforts of the Rock County Safe Streets Task Force in combating the opioid epidemic and bringing to justice a defendant involved in large-scale drug trafficking.
