The burn victim’s name was Sunny, an 11 month-old golden retriever a Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin veterinarian says was scaled by hot water. Rock County Judge Karl Hanson Friday morning sentenced the 27-year-old Beloit man who was found guilty on an animal mistreatment charge. Hanson called the details, of the animal’s suffering in the criminal complaint, disturbing. In addition to one-year in the county jail, Cody A. Sholes was also sentenced to three-years probation, and ordered not to own an animal during that time.
